I’m talking about the Tucson Gem show of course! People always ask me which shows they should go to….so here are my favorite, open to the public shows, in no particular order of importance.
T.E.P. (Tucson Electric Park) Gem and Mineral Show, January 28-Feb 12, 2012. Location: Kino sports complex, 2500 E. Ajo Way, Tucson AZ. They are open from 10 AM- 6PM except on the last day they close early. The reason I like this show is they have a little bit of everything, beads, loose stones, big rocks, fossils, tools and supplies and FREE parking!
The Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, Feb. 9-12, 2012. Location: Tucson Convention Center, 260 S. Church Street, Tucson AZ. 9 AM- 6 PM except for the 12th, when…they close early. This show is all about education. A great show to take kids. Lots of things to learn for everyone about minerals and gemstones with special focus on Arizona. There are also plenty of vendors for shopping and they even have drawings for free things! You can find out more at www.tgms.org.
The Best Bead Show, Feb. 1-5, 2012. Kino Veteran’s Memorial Community Center, 2805 E. Ajo Way, Tucson (across from the T.E.P. ball park.) 10 AM- 6 PM except for the 5th….they close early…. Are you beginning to see a pattern here? If you are looking for beads and beading supplies this is the show! Also on Saturday, Feb.4 from 1-3 PM you can find my friend, Sharon Hessoun demonstrating at the Soft Flex Booth. Check out her gorgeous “Red Flirt” design http://wp.me/p27TWN-2J.
To Bead True Blue, Jan. 29-Feb 3, and The Tucson Bead show Feb. 4-6, 2012. The Doubletree Reid Park, 445 S. Alvernon Way, Tucson AZ. 10 AM- 6 PM. They don’t officially close early the last day but I wouldn’t take any chances! These shows are back to back in the same location. Both shows feature high quality, juried artists. These shows are not for bargain hunters but if you are looking for beautiful, hand crafted beads, fabrics, and components you will want to check out one or both of these shows!
I welcome any comments or questions you might have. ~Marnie
